Mentor
The future of task management

1.1 What is Mentor?

Mentor is a program for EPOC devices (such as the Psion Revo and Series 5mx) which introduces a new way to manage your tasks. This method is based on:

  • Defining a context for tasks
context means the different roles that you have - for example "home" and "work"

  • Allocating time slots for these different contexts
you might allocate 8 hours of work per day Monday to Friday, for example

  • Recording tasks in context, along with scheduling parameters
in context simply means saying which context a task contributes towards - e.g. "mow the lawn" might be a task within the "home" context; scheduling parameters - such as size - allow Mentor to schedule tasks automatically - Mentor makes providing this sort of information easy

By following this method, you can let Mentor take the strain of finding the best time to do tasks and warning you if you are over-committed. If "something comes up" you can use Mentor to understand the implications and move tasks on - if tasks cannot be completed in time to meet their due date, Mentor will tell you! If someone asks you when you can complete a task - ask Mentor!
